MUMSCAST
Organic holiday?
Since MUMSCLICK was started, we have sought to publish what we call a ‘green’ story each Wednesday as it is a subject that we are very passionate about and we felt that MUMSCLICK users would be too.
Being a responsible parent means that we do have to take the time and effort to educate our children for example:
On the importance of recycling, eating healthy food that is not filled with additives and junk passing unwanted goods onto a charity, not wasting water, turning the television off not just leaving it on standby. We have talked about the recycling of tech items and our own personal carbon foot print, and fair-trade fashion to name but a few.
We also recently conducted our first survey into how important being ‘green’ is to you our members. There was no fancy prize, just the promise that by completing the survey you would be providing safe drinking water for a day for someone who needed it. We had so many responses we had to close the survey!!
So, we feel that we can safely say that MUMSCLICK members are all a very ‘green’ conscientious bunch!
With this in mind, we got thinking about going on a green/organic holiday. Do they exist for every day people like us and by that we mean, not just some fabulous resort in Thailand that only mega rich celebrities can afford. We are talking about the every day person who is environmentally aware, likes to eat organic and simple food and just enjoys the great outdoors.
After a bit resourcing (you know how much we like it!!) we came across www.organicholidays.co.uk a site that we really like and is simple in essence but ticks all the boxes in terms of looking for an organic/green holiday. This site is very comprehensive and covers places to stay all over the world. For now though, we are liking the beautiful places they list in Great Britain and Ireland. Lots of these places would be ideal with the kids and for a mini break.
So next time you are planning one have a look at this website and consider a place that is focused on organic and simply being ‘green’. We feel healthy and rested at the thought of it! Another key point to note about this site is the ‘Marketplace’ section. You can lay your hands on a great wealth of information to do with all things organic and eco, from cafes, foods, wedding, venues, trips and much more. Click here to access the website.
